For me? This line is the soul of the piece “Now the menu is a map of things I know I’ll never eat”. I loved it so beautiful it captures so much. I can close my eyes and see it, smell the atmosphere. It’s funny how one line can touch someone.
Haunting in its familiarity. Many of us can relate to this in so many ways. In the hope. The expectation. The sense of lose. And the aloneness. Nicely done.
The feeling of seeing other happy couples in your poem is the same feeling I had seeing happy families after divorce.

brutal truth of lost love, thank you
I really appreciate your article writing pattern
How how expressed the exact dining moment and that too metamorphically
It's amazing
Eldridge, how poignantly and sorrowfully beautiful. Heartbreakingly so.
I love these lines,
"I told him I’m still waiting, though I’m not quite sure for whom—
The version of you that loved me, or the version that walked out the door?"
I wonder how many of us have lived this? It's a very beautiful line but it's so painfully true.
All the feels.
Wow. Powerful and relatable. Those of us who know that kind of despair feel the tinge of lost hope.

A beautifully crafted wistful tale of lost love. I love “a kingdom built of "almosts" and a heart that’s permanently bared.”
Blessings & thanks for sharing your writing gifts!
